Engineer Alaa Mohammed Al-Wasabi represented the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders at the 2nd International Medical Conference on Hemophilia, Thalassemia, and Sickle Cell Anemia held in Amman, Jordan, on September 26–27, 2019. The conference was organized by the Thalassemia and Hemophilia Center at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, under the management of Al-Bashir Hospitals (Ministry of Health). The event featured participation from the Jordanian Society for Thalassemia and Hemophilia, the Friends of Thalassemia Patients Association – Palestine, in collaboration with the World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) and the Thalassemia International Federation (TIF).
During the meeting, Dr. Bashar Al-Karmi, President of the Friends of Thalassemia Patients Association – Palestine, emphasized that the main objective of the conference was to develop strategies to address the challenges faced by patients. He highlighted the importance of critically evaluating past experiences, identifying shortcomings encountered over the years, and urged deeper reflection to enrich these experiences with the conference’s recommendations and proposals for the benefit of the patients.
