The Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders (YSTH) welcomed fourth-year Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics students from the University of Science and Technology on Saturday, Rabi’ al-Awwal 16, 1448 AH (August 29, 2026). The visit aimed to enhance community awareness regarding thalassemia and inherited blood disorders while providing students with a closer look at the ongoing struggles faced by patients.
During the visit, the students explored the nature of the medical and humanitarian services provided by the Treatment Center. They learned about the stages of care and treatment required by patients, as well as the challenges that necessitate combined community and humanitarian efforts to support them.
The society’s management emphasized the importance of such student and community visits in spreading health knowledge, raising awareness about premarital screening, and fostering solidarity with patients. These initiatives aim to transform awareness of thalassemia and genetic blood disorders into positive actions and supportive efforts that alleviate the suffering of patients and their families.
