As part of ongoing efforts to raise health awareness and promote a culture of prevention, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Treatment Center at the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders (YSTH), delivered an awareness lecture on Monday, Rabi’ al-Awwal 18, 1448 AH (August 31, 2026), at Modern Sciences University. The lecture addressed thalassemia and inherited blood disorders, emphasizing the importance of prevention and curbing their spread within society.
The address defined hereditary blood diseases and highlighted the continuous challenges and suffering faced by patients. It also underscored the critical role of premarital medical screening as a responsible and conscious step to determine the likelihood of transmitting genetic diseases to offspring, helping couples make informed decisions.
