Towards a Broader Awareness and Prevention Protecting Future Generations
In a step reflecting the importance of partnership between private sector institutions and health and humanitarian entities, the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders conducted an awareness lecture on Sunday, October 18, 2026, for the employees of Cash Wallet, aimed at introducing major hereditary blood disorders, enhancing awareness of prevention methods, and limiting their spread.
The lecture reviewed the nature of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, and how they are transmitted through genetic genes, emphasizing the importance of pre-marital medical screening and specialized medical consultation as prominent preventive measures that help reduce the birth of children affected by these diseases, and avoid the health, psychological, and social suffering they may cause for families.
The lecture also touched upon the humanitarian and health aspects associated with these diseases, the ongoing needs for care and treatment, alongside introducing the Society’s efforts in providing medical and awareness services, as well as psychological and social support to patients. It also highlighted its role in spreading a culture of prevention and enhancing social responsibility towards this humanitarian issue.
The Society continues to implement its awareness programs in cooperation with various institutions and community entities, stemming from its humanitarian mission aimed at promoting prevention, supporting patients, and contributing to building a more aware and healthy society.
