On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, Al-Razi University concluded a two-day training course titled “Medical Terminology and Awareness of Cholera, Thalassemia, and Hereditary Blood Disorders”. The course, held on July 1–2, 2019, targeted 40 male and female students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Department of English Language. It was organized by the Government of Independent Yemeni Youth in cooperation with Al-Razi University, with active participation from the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders.
As part of the training, Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Jad’ei delivered an awareness lecture on thalassemia and sickle cell anemia, covering causes, symptoms, complications, and methods of prevention. The Society’s participation aimed to educate students about the dangers of chronic hereditary blood diseases and to emphasize the importance of engaging and empowering youth, who represent the backbone of the nation, in building an informed and health-conscious generation.
The lecture also underscored the necessity of early premarital screening as a vital step toward preventing the spread of these life-threatening conditions among future generations.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Dhubaibi, Minister of Public Health and Population in the Government of Independent Yemeni Youth, extended his gratitude to the Society for its ongoing contributions to the medical, psychological, and social care of patients, as well as its awareness efforts. In recognition of its impactful role, the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders was awarded a certificate of appreciation for its dedication to patient care and youth education.
At the close of the program, the Society expressed its sincere thanks to the leadership of the Government of Youth and Al-Razi University for their efforts in empowering young people through meaningful training programs and for their commitment to addressing the challenges faced by patients with hereditary blood disorders.
