Association Organizes “A Day Out of the Hospital” Program to Entertain Patients and Their Families
On the Occasion of World Thalassemia Day
The Yemeni Association for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, with support and sponsorship from Sabafon Mobile Company, organized a “Day Out of the Hospital” program to entertain thalassemia patients and their families. The event took place this morning at Al-Sabeen Park in Sana’a.
This recreational program was held on the sidelines of the speech and artistic festival organized by the association yesterday in celebration of World Thalassemia Day on May 8th under the theme “Their Health… The Nation’s Wellness.” The initiative aims to provide patients a break from the routine hospital environment and medical treatments.
Thalassemia is a chronic hereditary disease that heavily burdens the families of those affected, both financially and emotionally. It consumes much of their time in hospitals and clinics, depriving them of opportunities for leisure and entertainment, which are often essential for their psychological support.
Regarding the social role of telecommunications companies in supporting thalassemia and hereditary blood disorder patients, the association’s Executive Director, Mr. Jamil Al-Khayati, praised the efforts of Sabafon and Yemen Mobile companies in alleviating patient suffering and helping them overcome their challenges.
Al-Khayati also commended the leading telecom companies in Yemen, including Yemen Mobile, Sabafon, MTN, and Y Telecom, for their ongoing efforts in raising awareness and educating the public about the dangers of thalassemia and hereditary blood diseases, as well as the importance of premarital medical testing.
