On Saturday, January 30, 2020, students from the Medical Laboratory Department at Al-Ghad International College for Health Sciences and Technology visited the Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders Care Center. They were accompanied by Dr. Amani Al-Raymi, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Ali Majli, Hematology Instructor at the college.
They were warmly received by the General Manager of the Association, Mr. Jameel Ali Al-Khayati, the Director of the Care Center, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, and the Head of Public Relations and Media, Mr. Abdullah Al-Jad‘i. Mr. Al-Jad‘i delivered an awareness lecture introducing thalassemia and hereditary hemolytic anemias, their causes, modes of transmission, methods of prevention, and the community’s vital role in addressing these chronic diseases.
Mr. Al-Khayati expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the college administration for their dedication and commitment to supporting such humanitarian causes. He praised the students for their participation and the benefit they gained from the visit, emphasizing their future role in raising awareness within the community. He also called for the necessity of early medical screening—premarital testing—before proceeding with engagement or marriage arrangements.
Dr. Mukhtar Ismail reviewed the services provided by the center to patients, urging the provision of adequate care for this afflicted group and encouraging cooperation to supply essential medications and supportive treatments that alleviate much of their suffering.
