On Thursday, January 15, 2026 (Rajab 26, 1447 AH), the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders (YSTH) concluded a series of organizational meetings. These sessions included the General Administration’s meeting with its humanitarian staff, the Administrative Board meeting, the Oversight and Inspection Committee meeting, and finally, the Ordinary General Assembly Meeting.
The meetings were dedicated to discussing and approving the annual reports and final accounts for the fiscal year ending in 2025, alongside several agenda items aimed at developing and enhancing the administrative and organizational performance of the society and its treatment centers. The meetings were conducted according to the following timeline:
- General Administration Meeting with staff: Thursday, January 1.
- Administrative Board Meeting: Thursday, January 8.
- Oversight and Inspection Committee Meeting: Saturday, January 10.
- Ordinary General Assembly Meeting: Thursday, January 15.
During these sessions, the administrative and financial reports were presented, highlighting the key activities and programs implemented over the past year. Discussions covered the level of goal achievement, challenges faced during operations, and proposed recommendations to address them throughout 2026.
The Finance Department presented the final accounts, detailing revenues and expenditures and the extent of adherence to approved plans and budgets. Members of the Administrative Board, the Oversight Committee, and the General Assembly provided constructive feedback and targeted recommendations to improve institutional performance and strengthen financial and administrative mechanisms.
At the conclusion of these meetings, the Annual Report and the Final Accounts for 2025 were unanimously approved. A package of recommendations was adopted to improve institutional performance and enhance the efficiency of financial reporting, contributing to the realization of the society’s goals and meeting the aspirations of patients and their families.
For his part, the President of the Society, Dr. Ahmed Shamsan Al-Maqrami, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the General Assembly members for their presence and constructive engagement. He also extended his sincere thanks to Mr. Mahmoud Al-Bahri, Deputy Director of the Organizations and Societies Department at the Office of Social Affairs and Labor, for his continuous cooperation with the society for over 15 years and his supervision of the General Assembly meeting. Furthermore, he thanked the leadership of the Office of Social Affairs and Labor, represented by Mr. Nasser Al-Safi Al-Kahli, Director General, and his entire team for their fruitful cooperation and for facilitating the society’s procedures.
The President concluded by appealing to relevant authorities and donors to support the society’s humanitarian projects, ensuring the continuity of health and social services for those affected. He expressed hope for the stabilization of patients’ health conditions and urged concerned authorities to expedite the issuance of the Premarital Screening Law and the establishment of a National Awareness Program to promote the culture of early screening, safeguarding future generations from chronic genetic blood disorders.
