On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, a group of female students from the Laboratory Department at the Faculty of Medical Sciences visited the headquarters of the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders. During the visit, they were introduced to the activities of the Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders Care Center, its facilities, and the services provided to children with thalassemia.
The students learned about the most important medications given to patients and their significance, as well as the center’s laboratory and the types of tests conducted for patients. They praised the vital role played by the Society in supporting these patients and affirmed their commitment to stand alongside the Society in raising awareness about the importance of premarital screening to eliminate these chronic diseases, which pose a serious threat to the majority of society’s members and impose a heavy burden on the state.
