On Thursday, February 18, 2021, Level 3 students from the Department of Laboratory Sciences at the University of Science and Technology paid an awareness visit to the Thalassemia and Hereditary Hemolytic Anemia Care Center. The visit was accompanied by Mr. Faez Al-Basair, Head of the Student Activities Department at the university. During their visit, the students were introduced to the various departments of the center and the services provided to patients.
Mr. Abdullah Ibrahim Al-Jad’i, Head of Public Relations and Media at the association, delivered an informative lecture about thalassemia and hereditary hemolytic anemia, discussing their causes, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. He emphasized the critical importance of early medical screening before marriage, describing it as the only effective means to protect future generations from the risks posed by these chronic diseases.
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah, Head of Medical Services at the center, spoke about the hardships faced by patients afflicted with these conditions and underscored the necessity of supporting this vulnerable group.
In the same context, Mr. Faez Al-Basair indicated that preparations are underway to organize awareness campaigns and blood donation drives at the university to benefit the patients.
Mr. Jameel Ali Al-Khyati, General Manager of the association, highly appreciated the constructive partnership with the University of Science and Technology, as well as other Yemeni universities, in the ongoing efforts to combat thalassemia and hereditary hemolytic anemia.
The event concluded with the association receiving a certificate of appreciation in recognition of its dedicated humanitarian efforts toward patient care.
