On Tuesday, and under the patronage of the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center, Al-Zahrawi Institute for Medical Training and Rehabilitation, in cooperation with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, launched an awareness campaign highlighting the dangers of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia and ways to prevent them.
The campaign targeted the institute’s staff and a number of its students. It featured an awareness lecture delivered by Mr. Abdullah Al-Jad’ei, Head of Media and Public Relations at the Society. In addition, educational brochures were distributed, awareness videos were screened, and medical advice was shared with participants.
The awareness activities will be followed by a voluntary blood donation campaign in support of patients suffering from these conditions. The donation event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 27, 2019, in the courtyard of the institute.
These campaigns reflect a strong sense of responsibility toward various segments of society, especially patients, and emphasize the need for collective support. The Society calls on all citizens to actively participate in the blood donation campaign, as it directly benefits patients and can be a lifeline for those in critical need.
