On Tuesday, July 30, 2019, the Public Relations and Media Department of the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, in partnership with the Medical Education and Training Center at the University of Science and Technology, conducted an awareness campaign to highlight the dangers of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia and ways to prevent them.
In this context, Dr. Abdulmajid Al-Adlani, Director of the Center, emphasized the importance of such awareness campaigns as they contribute to protecting future generations from hereditary blood disorders. He expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Society and its team in working towards prevention and limiting the spread of these diseases.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Jada’i, Head of the Society’s Public Relations and Media Department, delivered an educational lecture, thanking the Center’s administration for providing the opportunity, coordinating, and following up to ensure the campaign’s success. He stressed the critical role of early screening, especially premarital testing, in disease prevention.
The campaign targeted students from the Midwifery and Obstetrics, Nursing, and Physician Assistant programs, and it received widespread attendance and active engagement from the students.
Additionally, the students organized a charity bazaar at the Center to support patients suffering from thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders.
