On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, and for the second consecutive year, Queen Arwa University, in coordination with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, held an awareness and charity event aimed at educating the public about the dangers of thalassemia and other hereditary blood disorders, as well as methods of prevention.
During the event, Mr. Abdullah Al-Jad’ei, Head of the Society’s Public Relations and Media Department, delivered an awareness lecture highlighting the nature of hereditary blood diseases, their symptoms, associated risks, and preventive measures. He emphasized the importance of premarital medical screening as the most effective way to prevent the transmission of these chronic diseases.
The event was attended by Dr. Ghassan Hashim, Vice President of the University; Ms. Maryam Mohammed, Registrar General; along with several deans, department heads, and a large number of students. All expressed their continued support and solidarity with individuals affected by these conditions.
The Society highly appreciates the efforts exerted by the event organizers and hopes to see similar initiatives in other universities, as such activities play a vital role in combating thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders and in raising public awareness.
The event also featured a charity bazaar, with proceeds dedicated to supporting patient care programs for individuals affected by thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders.
