On Thursday, November 21, 2019, a group of students from Al-Rashid Modern Schools visited the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients, accompanied by their school supervisor Ms. Ashwaq Al-Sheikh and health supervisors Ms. Abeer Muteer and Ms. Jumana Al-Kharashi. During the visit, they toured the Center for the Care of Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorder Patients and learned about the services provided to patients.
They were warmly welcomed by Mr. Abdullah Al-Jad’ei, Head of the Society’s Public Relations and Media Department, who delivered an awareness lecture on the dangers of thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders and ways to prevent them.
In a related initiative, Al-Rashid Schools, Maeen English Branch, organized an awareness campaign on Sunday, November 24, 2019, in coordination and cooperation with the Society. The campaign aimed to educate students about the risks of thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders and how to prevent them, receiving enthusiastic participation and positive feedback from the students.
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, Seeds Institute for Education hosted an awareness booth as a preparatory activity for an upcoming awareness event at the institute, coordinated with the Society’s Awareness Department.
Additionally, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, third-year nutrition students from the University of Science and Technology conducted a nutritional day for 70 patients suffering from thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders. The event also educated patients’ families about appropriate nutrition to support children affected by these conditions.
The Society’s management extends sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of these important awareness campaigns that help educate and inform the community about the seriousness of these chronic diseases and how to prevent them.
