On Tuesday, March 10, 2020, the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders organized an awareness campaign at Al-Fateh International Schools – Boys’ Section, Shumlan Branch. During the event, Mr. Saleh Al-Asimi, a member of the Society’s Administrative Board, delivered an educational speech highlighting the suffering of patients and their families.
The school’s principal, Mr. Mohammed Abdulkarim, also addressed the students, praising the efforts of the Society and encouraging students to take the initiative and undergo premarital screening to prevent the lifelong burden of thalassemia and other hereditary blood disorders.
As part of the campaign, awareness brochures were distributed to help students gain vital knowledge about the severity of chronic hereditary diseases, their causes, and ways to avoid them.
The Society extends its sincere thanks to the school administration, represented by General Director Mr. Mohammed Al-Habbabi, for their support in raising awareness among students. The Society also hopes such awareness initiatives will continue and expand to help eliminate thalassemia and other hereditary blood disorders through widespread education and prevention.
