On Sunday, March 28, 2021, Al-Kuwait Model Secondary School, in coordination and cooperation with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders, organized an awareness campaign aimed at raising awareness about the risks of hereditary blood disorders and methods of prevention. This initiative comes as part of the Society’s ongoing awareness program.
During the campaign, Mr. Saleh Al-Asimi, a member of the Society’s administrative board, delivered an awareness speech in which he highlighted the suffering endured by patients and their families. He warned of the unfortunate outcomes that result from neglecting premarital screening and emphasized the importance of promoting a culture of early testing across all segments of society in order to prevent the birth of new cases.
For his part, Mr. Ahmed Al-Habbabi, Principal of Al-Kuwait Secondary School, stated that the lack of awareness in society regarding the dangers of these chronic conditions is the greatest challenge. He stressed that without awareness, new cases will continue to emerge, calling for joint efforts and the mobilization of resources to spread this humanitarian cause to those who still ignore or are unaware of it.
At the conclusion of the campaign, the administration of Al-Kuwait Model Secondary School, represented by Principal Mr. Ahmed Al-Habbabi, was honored for its commitment to organizing and ensuring the success of the campaign. In response, Mr. Al-Habbabi expressed his appreciation for the Society’s efforts, stating that the honor is not for an individual but for all the students and educational staff at the school.
In the same context, the Society’s Director General, Mr. Jameel Ali Al-Khayati, affirmed that awareness is not the responsibility of the Society alone, but that every member of the community can play a vital role in supporting this cause.
