This morning, Monday, a voluntary blood donation campaign was held in support of patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders at the courtyard of Al-Jazeera College of Medical and Technical Sciences. The campaign was organized in coordination and cooperation with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders and the National Center for Blood Transfusion and Research. The event included various activities, speeches, and awareness lectures.
During the event, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Center for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorder Care, delivered an awareness speech about the causes, symptoms, complications, and prevention methods of thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders. He emphasized the critical importance of early medical screening before marriage, as it is the only way to prevent the birth of children affected by these diseases. He also highlighted the need to raise public awareness about the seriousness of these chronic conditions. At the conclusion of his speech, he expressed sincere thanks to the administration and staff of Al-Jazeera College for their coordination and efforts in making this campaign successful.
Dean of Al-Jazeera College, Dr. Hashim Al-Maghrabi, called on all college members, including staff and students, to actively participate in the blood donation campaign for the benefit of patients. He also praised the significant role played by the society in serving this vulnerable community.
For his part, Mr. Jameel Ali Al-Khyati, Director General of the Society, extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of the campaign, expressing his happiness with the strong engagement and willingness of the community members to donate blood.
