The University of Al-Razi, in coordination and cooperation with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Diseases (YSTH) and the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center, held this week two campaigns: an awareness campaign for university students and a blood donation campaign in support of patients with thalassemia, hereditary hemolytic anemia, and other patients dependent on blood transfusions.
These activities come as part of the Society’s plan to raise awareness about the dangers of these chronic hereditary diseases, the importance of early screening and medical consultation before marriage, and the necessity of blood donation to save patients’ lives and secure an adequate blood supply to meet the increased demand for blood and its derivatives.
