The meeting was chaired by the Society’s President, Dr. Ahmed Shamsan Al-Maqrami, to discuss the workflow and service provision during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dr. Ahmed opened the meeting with an introduction on the benefits of fasting and the proper etiquettes to observe regarding eating, drinking, work, and other practices, aiming to maximize the physical and spiritual benefits of this sacred ritual. He urged everyone to be mindful of the great rewards and to exert greater efforts to ensure that patients receive the necessary services. He also called upon all segments of society to visit the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center, located next to Al-Sabeen Hospital, to donate blood in support of patients with thalassemia, hereditary blood disorders, and other diseases, emphasizing that these patients depend on donor blood for survival. He further highlighted that blood donation carries immense spiritual reward, especially during this blessed month.
Additionally, the Society’s General Manager, Mr. Jamil Ali Al-Khayati, appealed to philanthropists, businessmen, and organizations operating in the country to provide urgent support in terms of medications and essential supplies for this vulnerable group, ensuring their continued lives free from severe complications that could otherwise be fatal, God forbid.
In the context of preventive measures against the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Center’s Director, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, stressed the importance of maintaining precautionary measures within the center. Although our country is currently free from this pandemic, praise be to God, it remains our collective responsibility to keep the flame of awareness alive among our community members.
