Faculty of Medical Sciences at Al-Hekma University, in coordination with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders and the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center, launched the “Hope Initiative” blood donation campaign today, Sunday, February 8, 2021, in Sana’a. The campaign was held at the university campus under the supervision of Dr. Adnan Al-Hakimi, Technical Director of the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center.
Earlier, on Wednesday, February 4, a comprehensive awareness event about Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders was organized. The event was attended by Prof. Mukhtar Dayel, President of the University; Prof. Lotfi Al-Muqtri, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Radwan Al-Najjar, Dean of the Graduate Studies; Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, Director of the Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders Care Center; along with numerous university professors and students. The program included various informative sessions highlighting the nature and impact of these chronic diseases.
In this context, Mr. Jamil Ali Al-Khayati, Director General of the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, expressed the Society’s sincere gratitude to the university administration, the Hope Initiative, and the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center for their commitment to supporting patients with Thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders. He also called for the continued implementation and adoption of such vital activities and programs.
