In continuation of the Ministry of Justice’s efforts to strengthen the role of the Yemeni Association for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, a team from the Judicial Media visited the Association’s headquarters and its therapeutic center today.
The visiting team included the Director General of Judicial Relations and Awareness at the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Ismail Al-Mushki; the Media Advisor to the Supreme Judicial Council, Mr. Hassan Al-Warith; and the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Qadaiya Newspaper, Mr. Fadel Al-Hajri. They met with the Association’s Director General, Mr. Jameel Al-Khyat, who briefed them on the activities and role of the Association and its therapeutic center in combating hereditary blood diseases.
During the meeting, the Director General praised the persistent efforts of the Ministry of Justice in supporting the Association’s role. He also expressed his gratitude to the Ministry’s leadership, represented by Minister of Justice Judge Nabil Nasser Al-Azzani, and the Documentation Sector.
The discussion covered mechanisms for cooperation between the Association and the Ministry of Justice, emphasizing the importance of media and awareness roles in addressing the issues faced by patients with these diseases, their main causes, and the risks of societal neglect regarding the necessity of medical testing before marriage to prevent these deadly diseases.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes of previous meetings between the Association’s leadership and the Director General of Documentation. It also stressed the need to enhance partnership between the Association and relevant bodies involved in community awareness to limit the spread of chronic thalassemia and hereditary hemolytic anemia, highlighting the vital role of medical and legal awareness in empowering the Association to reduce the incidence of these diseases.
