The University of Yemen, in coordination and cooperation with the National Blood Transfusion and Research Center and the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia and Hereditary Blood Disorders, organized a voluntary blood donation campaign today, Monday, 9 Sha’ban 1445 AH, corresponding to February 19, 2024, to support patients with thalassemia, hereditary hemolytic anemia, and other patients reliant on blood transfusions.
Additionally, the Society hosted first-year Assistant Medical Technician students from Al-Razi Higher Institute of Health Sciences for a visit to the patient treatment center. During the visit, the students received awareness sessions about the risks, symptoms, complications, and modes of transmission of thalassemia and hereditary hemolytic anemia, as well as prevention methods. The importance of early screening and medical consultation prior to marriage was emphasized, along with the critical need to support patients through voluntary blood donation and the continuous implementation of awareness activities.
