Today, the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders (YSTH) welcomed a delegation of students from Al-Razi University for a scientific and awareness-raising field visit to the society’s therapeutic center. This initiative aims to strengthen partnerships with academic institutions, bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical field application, and foster health and humanitarian awareness among medical and healthcare students.
During the visit, the students toured the various departments of the therapeutic center to gain insight into its operational mechanisms and the specialized medical and humanitarian services provided to patients suffering from thalassemia and genetic blood disorders. They also attended an informative briefing addressing the nature of these diseases, their complications, the daily challenges faced by patients, and the critical importance of securing safe blood supplies and essential medications to sustain continuous treatment.
The field program also featured an awareness lecture that thoroughly explored thalassemia and genetic blood disorders, their hereditary modes of transmission, and the vital significance of premarital medical screening and genetic counseling. These preventive measures were emphasized as the primary cornerstone for curbing the spread and preventing the occurrence of these chronic disorders. Additionally, the lecture underscored the essential role of healthcare professionals in raising community awareness and anchoring a culture of humanitarian responsibility.
This visit falls within the framework of the society’s ongoing endeavors to enhance collaboration with universities and educational institutions. Through such engagement, the society seeks to cultivate a well-informed generation capable of disseminating health awareness, reinforcing the vital importance of preventing genetic disorders, and actively serving the community.
