On Sunday, March 1, 2020, the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients received a group of second-year laboratory students from the National Higher Institute for Health Sciences, accompanied by the Head of the Laboratory Department, Dr. Rahma Al-Maqrami.
The delegation was welcomed by the Society’s General Director, Mr. Jameel Ali Al-Khayati, the Center Director, Dr. Mukhtar Ismail, and the Social Welfare Officer, Ms. Rabab Tawfiq. The visitors were given a comprehensive tour of the center and briefed on the various departments and the services provided to patients throughout the year.
During the visit, Mr. Jameel Al-Khayati emphasized the vital importance of early premarital screening, describing it as the first and only effective method to prevent chronic hereditary diseases. He also stressed the need to raise awareness among all segments of society about the serious consequences of neglecting this preventive measure.
In a related context, Mr. Abdullah Al-Jad’ei, Head of the Society’s Public Relations and Media Department, delivered an awareness lecture on the dangers of thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders. The lecture covered causes, symptoms, impacts, methods of prevention, and how society can support affected individuals. He concluded by thanking the attendees for their visit and their interest in the Society’s work..
