On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Al-Hekma University, in collaboration with the NEED INDEED Initiative and in coordination with the Yemeni Society for Thalassemia Patients, organized a charitable awareness event in support of patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders. The event featured a variety of artistic performances and was attended by numerous Yemeni art stars.
During the event, Mr. Saleh Al-Asimi, member of the Society’s administrative board, delivered a speech outlining the Society’s founding and the humanitarian efforts undertaken by all its members, despite the Society’s lack of sufficient resources to continue serving this afflicted group. He expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the organizers for their kind humanitarian gesture and their recognition of the patients’ suffering.
The event coordinator, the esteemed artist Ms. Fathiya Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of standing by patients with thalassemia and hereditary blood disorders, noting that they deserve our full support, care, attention, and encouragement. Veteran artist Mr. Ali Al-Kawkabani called on everyone—especially media professionals and artists—to adopt this cause and enrich the community with informative media content, awareness flashes, and purposeful theatrical performances, all of which contribute to raising awareness about the vital importance of early premarital medical screening.
