On the morning of Thursday, November 20, 2025, the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders welcomed first-level students from the National Higher Institute of Health Sciences, Medical Assistant specialty, on a field visit aimed at enhancing health awareness and reinforcing the importance of early screening for genetic diseases.
During the visit, the students learned about the departments of the treatment center and the services it provides to patients, including laboratory tests, medical care, medication provision, and the mechanisms of safe blood transfusion for patients with thalassemia and other hereditary blood disorders.
The visitors also listened to an educational explanation about the nature of these diseases, their major complications, and how they can be passed on to future generations, while emphasizing that prevention begins with premarital screening and genetic counseling.
The Society affirmed that promoting health awareness is a shared responsibility, and that visits by institute and university students contribute to building a more informed community capable of prevention.
