A number of medical and technical staff from the Yemen Society for Thalassemia and Genetic Blood Disorders, alongside dozens of thalassemia and sickle cell disease patients and some of their relatives, participated in a solidarity humanitarian stand held on the morning of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in front of the United Nations headquarters in Sana’a.
The stand was also attended by many patients suffering from cancer and kidney failure, as part of an event organized by the Ministry of Health and Environment to raise the voices of patients and highlight their struggles to the international community.
This participation emphasized the unity of patients’ suffering across different groups and shed light on the harsh health conditions they endure due to the shortage of essential life-saving medications and the lack of sufficient support to maintain health care services.
The stand aimed to urge international and humanitarian organizations to fulfill their ethical and humanitarian duty towards patients by providing necessary medications and treatment supplies, and ensuring the continuity of medical services for those suffering from chronic life-threatening illnesses.
Participants renewed their call to the United Nations and humanitarian bodies to assume their urgent responsibilities and work to save the lives of thousands of patients who are racing against time to stabilize their health conditions and access their medications.
